Financial Support
Department of Public Administration Funding
New PhD Students. The Department of Public Administration provides a limited number of research assistants (RAs), teaching assistantships (TAs), teaching fellowships (TFs) and graduate student assistants (GSAs) for doctoral students in the entering cohort each Fall. These positions are open only to unconditionally admitted students entering as part of the first year cohort and are awarded on a competitive basis. It is our intention to fund three new students for three years of their program contingent upon a student’s satisfactory progress. Application for funding is made in the application for admission.
Returning PhD Students. The Department of Public Administration provides a limited number of research assistants (RAs), teaching assistantships (TAs), teaching fellowships (TFs) and graduate student assistants (GSAs) for doctoral students completing the second, third, and fourth years of the program. These appointments are made on a competitive basis each year.
Toulouse School of Graduate Studies Funding
In recognition of their outstanding academic accomplishments, the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies will award a competitive $1,000 Doctoral Academic Achievement Scholarship for the academic year to each qualifying new student who begins his or her study in a doctoral program at the University of North Texas during the academic year (Fall or Spring semester). Because these scholarships are competitive, international students and non-resident students who receive them will be entitled to pay Texas resident tuition for the term of their scholarships.
